4thWall Project

"This was a commission to design and make the cut throat razor blade for a production of Sweeney Todd by the theatrical group, 4thWall in Ealing, London.

The commission was very interesting as I needed to make the razor oversized and extra shiny (and completely blunt of course!) for effective use in a theatre, but I also needed to make it produce blood when being used!

In the end I made two blades, one that would flip open like a proper blade and another that was set in an open position with a squeezy handle that was filled with fake blood and used to cut throats!

I'm not sure how effective this was during the performance, I did see one performance, the blood wasn't very visible but the blades looked beautifully shiny.

The project was a joy to work on, with a specific brief and

challenges to overcome and seeing the final blades in use."
